A Look for a Wedding

Groom

A wedding day is not just a big day for women. It is one of the men’s big days too even though they don’t dream about since their childhood.

As women we always say that when it comes to dressing for important events being a man is always easier. Because all men need to do is wearing a groom’s suit, tuxedo, or a pant-jack duo and a convenient tie or papillon. But is it really the case?

If you pay attention nowadays men are paying attention their looks even more than most women. Which is quite equalizing the “getting ready” issues between men and women. It is not just wearing a tuxedo or tie up. It is way more than that. So, let’s dig in a bit more and see what grooms need to do while getting ready to marry the women of their lives.

Starting with the groom’s suit. We are very used to black groom’s suits and a black tie or papillon and a teeny tiny bouquet in the jacket’s pocket. But this is not the only case anymore. Men of today are preferring colourful suits like baby blue, bordeaux, soft pink or even WHITE 🙂 I think it is really nice to reflect your happiness and colourful personality with your colourful suit. But the colour choice and the fabric are very important. Because a wrong combination will make you look like a clown or a night club singer.

If you want to wear a tuxedo with pastel colours like soft pink, beige, baby blue you may prefer matte fabrics or fabrics with very little glitter but it should be looming up. If you want to wear more assertive colours like Bordeaux you should definitely prefer matte fabrics. It is very close to discussion. A little tip for the ones who want to wear dark coloured suits (like navy blue, bordeaux) you may change the collar’s colour with black. I think it looks good. For these colourful suits you don’t need to wear ties or papillons but if you really want to wear something you may wear a papillon. Because tie may destroy the colourful image since it has a quite official impression. But in my opinion a teeny tiny white bouquet in the pocket will fit better.

For the ones who want to keep on with the classic black, you may play with the colour of the tie/papillon or small bouquet’s. You can choose the colour based on your beautiful future wife’s bouquet toss or her make-up. It will bring your harmony as a couple to light physically of course. Another thing is the fabric. The fabric shouldn’t be too bright. But the collar can be made by sateen so it can be bright but in that case, for the ones who will wear tie, your tie should definitely be matte.

After selecting the suits now, we can talk about the shoes. Handsome grooms who will wear colourful suits, your shoes’ colour should be different than the suits. If you are wearing a pastel colour, except beige, you can wear beige shoes with rounded toes because pointy-toed shoes will destroy that colourful image of yours. If you are wearing a beige suit your shoes need to be a hue darker than your suit but still their toes need to be rounded. Another advice, prefer suede leather. Ones who will wear black suits, prefer black shoes and prefer patent leather.

Before finishing let me talk about the hairs and beards. You may have long hairs and beard. It is very acceptable and it is kind of popular these days. But still you may need as said in Turkish “groom shaving”. Don’t be scared it doesn’t mean that you have to cut them off. You just need to preen yourself. You may want to make a pony tail, or backcomb. If you prefer a quite “messy” style still go to a hairdresser for that, just to make sure that it doesn’t look like you just got up from the bed. For the beards, as a woman I prefer shaved grooms but I have to admit some men look very attractive with stubbly beard. You can grow beard till wedding day and see a professional to style it for the day of your life.

That is all from me. Hope you’ll be happily ever after with your wife and I hope she doesn’t step your foot so hard 🙂
